Aamir Khan and the intolerance Debate
The latest person to join the intolerance debate is Aamir Khan ..Reading the newspapers his wife feared the safety of his son and asked him it seems to leave India and to which country we should go to live safely ...
After hearing this I wonder about the intellectual and understanding level of these people .Please Mr Khan explain what are those incidents which prompted him thinking of leaving India which till the other day he used to endorse as Incredible India ..
It also shows how media and the so called intellectuals blow out of proportion one off incidents as if some fanatics have taken over the whole country ...Especially since it was the time Bihar elections the campaign was shrill...The whole thing was blamed on one person and all others are innocent ...Looks like with an eagerness to be seen as an intellectual Aamir also fell in to the same trap ...
Agreed some bad things had happened which should never have happened ..whoever are the culprits should be given harsh punishment no doubt about it ...but it is no justification for the wrong campaign of " intolerance " ..seeing the reactions of various politicians it has become a favourite subject for them to beat the government with ...To resolve this there should be an open dialogue with all the stake holders and find ways that these things do not happen again ,The writers and other intellectuals who have their awards think their duty is over once they gave back the awards ..their timing also invoke suspicion of their intentions ...
when incidents happened in Dadri and Haryana politicians of all hues ,media made a beeline to these places with non stop coverage and statements blaming the the government and Modi for all the incidents.When BJP lost the election in Bihar these two incidents were blamed to be the reasons for the defeat ...
But what happened after that ? what happened to the cases ? the people arrested ? is an FIR is filed ?
A charge sheet filed ? no one knows ... No Channel or breaking news guys want to follow up on it ..
One leader visiting Dadri asked if it was a photo opportunity he angrily replied he will come here again and again ...he never turned up ... same with all other politicians ...
If the politicians and media were sincere in their intentions they should have followed up on the case ,made sure the right persons are arrested ,the correct FIR and chargesheet filed .They also should have pressed for a trial by a fast track court to give fast and harsh punishment for the culprits ...But that is not to be
They do not want the issue to end ,keep it alive and make maximum political mileage out of it ..use it in as many election as possible ...The government is also guily of not reigning in the hotheads who made provocative statements ..The issue is to disrupt the proceeding the in Parliament and prevent any meaningful business taking place ...
In my opinion Aamir Khan just added fuel to the fire which will help politicians to spread the meesage of hatred and divisiveness instead of hope ...Aamir Khan should have thought of the proverb ..think before you speak .....and also about what you speak ....
