Nowadays the main
discussion is about Sabarimala .Heated discussions are going on
about introducing paid darshan, stopping VIP darshan and opening the temple
throughout the year to reduce the rush of pilgrims .There are a lot of people
voicing their opinions for and against these measures .The exchange of words
between CM Pinarayi Vijayan and DB president Mr.Gopala Krishnan during a
meeting on Sabarimala started the discussion .DB president voiced his opinion
against some suggestions made the CM ,who asked him to listen to what the he
says as he is the CM of the state.
Before introducing any
new measures first the Government should make sure there are all necessary
infrastructure in place for the pilgrim who currently visit the Shrine during
the pilgrim season .Any pilgrim who visits Sabarimala regularly can vouch that
the facilities provided for them are
very basic ,no major improvement have been taken place recently apart from constructing
some buildings and introducing on line booking for Darshan.Pilgrims have to
wait in queue for hours to have a glimpse of the Lord and then have to stand in
the queue for more time to buy the prasdam .Accommodation and sanitation
facilities are very poor .The main obstacle for developing more infrastructure
seems the availability of land as there is strong objection from Forest
Department giving more land as the shrine comes under the Periyar Wildlife
sanctuary .Not even a single branch of a
tree can be cut without their permission.
The availability of
clean water for drinking and bathing is also a challenge
The Government, DB and
all the other stake holders should sit together and find a solution to these
problems before introducing new measures as of now the hill shrine is under
tremendous strain due to these factors.
As for CM Pinarayi
Vijayan, he should remember that he is the Chief Minister of the state and when
making statements should be very careful what he says, how he says and when he
says about issues affecting the state.
Then only his stature
will raise from being a leader of a political party to an able administrator
who can carry all sections of people along and resolve issues facing the people
of the state .An attitude of confrontation may be good for the secretary of the
party to please the party cadres but not good for a Chief Minister of the
state.
It is high time that
the CM to throw out the so called advisor and media advisor as they are of no use,
incapable of giving the right advise and
are good only to participate in TV discussion as the Government faces on
controversy after another.
The activities of extremist
elements of all types are on the rise in the state .The Government have a
delicate job fighting it without alienating any section of the society.
