One Hundred eight names of the Sun -For Peace and Prosperity



Indians worshiped the Sun from time immemorial .In Hindu traditions Sun is called the soul of the Universe .We cannot imagine a single day without the Sun .

In Hindu religious literature, Surya is notably mentioned as the visible form of God that one can see every day. Furthermore, Shaivites and Vaishnavas often regard Surya as an aspect of Shiva and Vishnu, respectively. For example, the sun is called Surya Narayana by Vaishnavas. In Shaivite theology, Surya is said to be one of eight forms of Shiva, named the Astamurti. 

In modern times it is scientifically proven that Sun plays very important role in all forms of life on Earth. Sun is the reason behind air circulation , warmth, light and rain fall. This is very crucial for all living being. Ancient seers and saints of India, to keep their body healthy started Sun worship. 10 minutes of sun light exposure during sun rise gives enough supply of Vitamin-D for the day. You know how crucial Vitamin D is for our body. 

Ancient Romans, Egyptian and many culture used sun light for healing. Sad part is lack of Sunshine causes 1 million death a year. It comes free of cost. 



Sun light also enhances mood, and apperance. Scientific research says sunlight prevents Colon cancer, Lung cancer, Prostate cancer and even Skin cancer, It helps building good immune system as well. 



Given below are 108 eight names of the Sun told by Sage Vaisampayana to King Yudhistira before they started their journey in exile to the forest after being defeated in the Dice by the Kauravas .

These are the hundred and eight names of Surya of immeasurable energy as told by Brahma .

Anyone  with fixed attention recites this hymn at sunrise, obtains wife and offspring and riches and the memory of his former existence, and by reciting this hymn a person attains patience
and memory.

As the Puranas say 

" Let a man concentrating his mind, recite this hymn. By doing
so, he shall be proof against grief and forest-fire and ocean and every

object of desire shall be his.'

Surya, Aryaman, Bhaga, Twastri, Pusha, Arka,
Savitri. Ravi,Gabhastimat, Aja, Kala, Mrityu, Dhatri, Prabhakara, Prithibi, Apa, Teja,

Kha, Vayu, the sole stay, Soma, Vrihaspati, Sukra, Budha, Angaraka,

Indra, Vivaswat, Diptanshu, Suchi, Sauri, Sanaichara, Brahma, Vishnu,

Rudra, Skanda, Vaisravana, Yama, Vaidyutagni, Jatharagni, Aindhna,

Tejasampati, Dharmadhwaja, Veda-karttri, Vedanga, Vedavahana, Krita,

Treta, Dwapara, Kali, full of every impurity, Kala, Kastha, Muhurtta,

Kshapa, Yama, and Kshana; Samvatsara-kara, Aswattha, Kalachakra,

Bibhavasu, Purusha, Saswata, Yogin, Vyaktavyakta, Sanatana, Kaladhyaksha,

Prajadhyaksha, Viswakarma, Tamounda, Varuna, Sagara, Ansu, Jimuta,

Jivana, Arihan, Bhutasraya, Bhutapati, Srastri, Samvartaka, Vanhi,

Sarvadi, Alolupa, Ananta, Kapila, Bhanu, Kamada, Sarvatomukha, Jaya,

Visala, Varada, Manas, Suparna, Bhutadi, Sighraga, Prandharana,

Dhanwantari, Dhumaketu, Adideva, Aditisuta, Dwadasatman, Aravindaksha,

Chant these names daily with fixed mind and to achieve peace of mind and prosperity .
